Is Your Home Inspector Licensed?

by Evette Cecena, the Queen of HUD on October 21, 2010

I’ve been so busy that I have neglected my beloved blog lately. Well I’ve updated it for everyone and I hope you like the new look and easy to follow navigation. One thing I want to share with everyone today is the value of a home inspection by a licensed home inspector. I recently learned that about two-thirds of Valley home inspectors are no longer licensed. So be careful about who you hire. If your agent is unwilling to recommend a home inspector to you then ask why. Many agents do not want the liability, but the truth of the matter is that is their job. If they can’t recommend competent people to you during the home buying process then what good are they? Under the “Links For Buyers” menu at my site you will find home a link to the Board of Technical Registration. This is where you can find out if your home inspector is licensed or not. Just because it says it on their business card doesn’t mean it’s true. You want to hire a home inspector who is licensed, bonded and insured! Not just licensed and bonded. Licensed, Bonded and Insured!
